Sport Boat Clinic

We are pleased to announce our “Introduction to Sport Boats” Clinic, starting in August.

The “Introduction to Sport Boats” Clinic is designed for Silver/Gold/Platinum Fleet certified skippers who would like to experience the thrill of a small, tiller-steered boat. This applies, in particular, to our Dual Site members, who may have learned to sail at Modern Sailing on the Catalina 30 but now wish to try a smaller boat for fun.

In this two-day clinic, we’ll teach you how to rig and sail the popular J24. From hanking on the jib to reefing underway, from starting the outboard engine to docking under sail, you’ll learn it all.

You’ll find the J24 is a great learning platform for honing your skills. The sails have multiple shaping controls. The tiller provides instant feedback. The boat is very maneuverable and nimble. There is a reason it’s the most popular one-design keelboat in the world, with a rich racing pedigree.

This clinic will boost your confidence and competence as a skipper. Upon successful completion (including an on-the-water evaluation), you’ll be able to charter vessels in Inspire Sailing’s “Sport Boat < 30 feet” fleet, including the J24, J80, and Olson 25.
